“One World One Dream” fully reflects the essence and the universal values of the Olympic spirit: Unity, Friendship, Progress, Harmony, Participation, and Dreams. It expresses the common wishes of people all over the world, inspired by the Olympic ideals, to strive for a bright future for Mankind. Wisconsin is a small place on the world map. The Wisconsin Chinese Community is a small group in the world village. But we all belong to the same world and share the same aspirations and dreams. It is our belief that peace and progress, harmonious development, living in amity, cooperation and mutual benefit, and enjoying a happy life are the common ideals of the people throughout the world as well as in Wisconsin.
“One World, One Dream” is simple to express, yet very complicated to realize. Our mission, “Let Wisconsin Know about China” is part of that dream, and the 2008 Wisconsin Chinese Culture Day is one expression of that dream. To accomplish this mission, we have had the generous help of many people, Chinese and non-Chinese alike: our neighbors, co-workers, and friends; the Madison Chinese Community Organization (MAACO); Chinese community organizations throughout Wisconsin; the City of Madison; and the State of Wisconsin. With their help, we have been able to showcase for and share with all of Madison a small sampling of the food, music, art, and the dances that remain a vibrant part of our Madison area Chinese community. We will open a window onto a newly globalizing China, which is growing rapidly economically, and is the 2008 Summer Olympic host country to the Wisconsin people, and the people of the world. It is our hope that 2008 Wisconsin Chinese Culture Day will voice the aspirations of Wisconsin Chinese Americans to offer a contribution to the establishment of that peaceful and bright “One World, One Dream.”
Come and join us to celebrate 2008 Wisconsin Chinese Culture Day on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Wisconsin Madison Capital Square. Together we celebrate. Together we make tomorrow better.
